Personal Protection Dog Demonstration
At the end of our five week Obedience Course, we run a free demonstration of Protection Training with a fully trained personal protection dog.
This is a video of one of those demonstrations recently held with Brinny, a four year old Bull Arab female, her handler, John and our ‘intruder’ or baiter, Grant. Both Grant and John are trainers at Aylwards Dog School.
Brinny was originally trained by Neil Wilks and is currently boarding at Aylwards. She has been in training for three years and is often used in our demonstrations to show Obedience Course Graduates the type of training they can advance to with their dogs.
As this demonstration shows, Protection Training does not make your dog ‘aggressive’ or ‘dangerous’. In fact, this training is advanced obedience training for dogs and handlers, ensuring you are able to control your dog in any situation. During the video watch how quickly Brinny responds to John’s commands to leave the ‘intruder’ and return to him to guard.
In Protection Training the dogs are taught to respond to cues in human behavior that are dangerous to the handler (e.g. swearing and threatening stances) In the absence of these behaviors from other people, the dogs are more than happy to be patted and cuddled by strangers. 🙂
